About the programme

Creative Places: Edenderry is an ambitious three-year project supported by The Arts Council / An Comhairle Ealaíon as part of a national programme. It aims to put people, place, and participation at the centre of cultural life in Edenderry. The project is led by Creative Lives, an organisation that supports and encourages people to be creative in their everyday lives, in partnership with Offaly County Council’s Arts Office and a range of other stakeholders.

This project builds on some previous work delivered by Creative Lives in Edenderry which brought people together to imagine what a more creative and cultural town would look like and what steps could be taken to make those ideas a reality. The Creative Edenderry community group was established from these conversations and was funded by the Council to deliver the highly successful In My Shoes project, resulting in the murals on display in the town centre and the Shoes of Edenderry publication.

We aim to work with people of all ages and backgrounds to create a richer, more inclusive, and more cohesive creative community in the town and surrounding areas. Over the course of the three year project there will be opportunities for professional artists, non-professional artists, community groups, and individuals. The project should be owned and developed collaboratively by the people of Edenderry, with sustainability at the heart of what we do together.
