Jenny Bergin and John Grogan receive commissions from Creative Places: Edenderry
We’re excited to announce two new artist commissions which we will be funding over the next few months. Jenny Bergin will be working on a large-scale visual art project with Uibh Fhaile nursing home, and John Grogan will be inviting local aspiring playwrights to join him for a playwriting project.
Congratulations to both Jenny and John, and we look forward to working with you!
Jenny Bergin
Jenny Bergin is an artist based in Edenderry. She does a lot of private commission pieces and creates personalised pieces for every occasion. She uses mixed media in her art, creating texture and colour. She works from home and works closely with her customers to get the perfect finished piece.
Jenny chose Uibh Fhaile House for her Creative Places: Edenderry commission. She will create 110 pieces of art that will be interchangeable between four residential areas in the nursing home. Each piece will be interactive, colourful, and textured, and each will be lightweight and durable. She will work closely with the staff and residents to create art that will benefit everyone.
‘I’m so grateful to Creative Places, Edenderry for this opportunity and for all the support they have given me since setting up my business a year ago.’

John Grogan
John Grogan is a playwright from County Offaly. He’s worked with Fighting Words Dublin as a Creative Writing Facilitator for a number of years and recently he was a Coordinator on their Story Seeds Project. The Arts Council awarded John an Agility Award in 2021. He was Playwright-in-Residence with Dublin Youth Theatre Writers’ Group in 2020 and the winner of Scripts Ireland’s Playwriting Festival in 2019. His plays have been produced in Dublin, Edinburgh, and London.
As Playwright-in-Residence, John’s project aims to facilitate a group of local Edenderry writers over a fixed time period to devise new plays exploring community, character, and place. Through the process of writing a play the group will develop their storytelling skills and bring their stories to life using the medium of drama.
