Angi Ward was awarded a Seed Funding grant from Creative Places, Edenderry for ‘Mother Bog.’ It included an original script written by Angi and musical performance from ‘Acoustic Hearts.’ Angi writes: ‘Mother Bog is the story of our Bog since the beginning of time. it is told from the Bog’s perspective. Mother Bog has witnesses many changes and is still managing to regrow and repair. The idea was born from a collaboration with two visiting artists as part of a Creative Places, Edenderry initiative. It involves members of Acoustic Hearts who are part of the Monday Music Group and also members of Gemini players. It is a commemorative piece for all the men, women and children who worked on the bogs for Born na Mona and is especially dedicated to my parents, Broughan and Sheila Donegan, who raised thirteen children on a Bog Man’s wage.’ The debut performance was on Saturday the 26th of April at the Parish Centre, Edenderry. We laughed, cried and sang along! Here is a video of the performance:
